OVN 3-5-14 Artist Allie Pohl is interested in how the sexes are represented in society, and how one represents oneself to the opposite sex. For her hugely popular show, “Ideal Woman,” she took the iconic distorted Barbie Doll image and recreated life-size neon cutouts of the torso of a real woman. For the “Peacocks in Flight” show, opening at galerie102 Saturday, Pohl turns to the other half of society and uses her keen sense of social commentary to document how the male form has evolved over the last three decades, and how men also market themselves.
